Tet holiday destinations in southern Vietnam

Local rivers and canals offer a magnificent traffic route for tourists in Mekong Delta

The Mekong Delta provinces boast wonderful sites for a holiday getaway during upcoming Lunar New year, with beautiful landscapes, flowers, wild birds and religious spots.

At Cai Môn flower village in Cho Lach District in Ben Tre Province, visitors can see locals hurrying to harvest and sell many kinds of flowers.

A trip to the village in the final day of the lunar year is an uplifting experience.

Visitors can also spend a day at recreational complexes in Ben Tre and enjoy water biking, zip-lining, sailing and fishing.

Located about three hours from Hochiminh city, Can Tho City is another attractive destination in southern Vietnam. Despite its rapid economic growth, the so-called “western capital” of Vietnam still retains the typical reverie culture.

If you are visiting here for the first time, you should not miss the early morning floating market. The lifestyle of the people and the myriad simple breakfast dishes will make getting up early worth it.

You should also stop by the old Binh Thuy houses with their unique architectural features.

Đong Thap is a southwestern province often known as the “land of the lotus”. A two-day trip to the province is optimal and is best taken between December and April when you can enjoy outdoor activities in dry weather.

Situated 40 km from Cao Lanh, the Tram Chim National Park has hundreds of species of animals and around 130 types of plants. This is a place for natural immersion and nature exploration.

From Hochiminh City, there are many buses to the Mekong Delta provinces. Visitors can take buses at the Western Bus Terminal in the city’s Binh Tan District.
